Not one, but TWO terrific things happened today!

Posted on: 07-6-2011 Posted in: Blog, Recordings

My latest album, The Known Unknowns, went on sale today at Amazon and iTunes for its July 26, 2011 release. This has been a very special project for me and my wife, violinist Helen Nightengale, who is also the album’s producer. The album also features the Angeli Resemble, a spectacular group of colleagues and friends. I plan on writing much more about this in the near future and although you might not know it from the number of blog posts, I’ve actually been doing quite a bit of writing lately; in fact, I wrote all of The Known Unknown’s liner notes.

Even though one album release is terrific, I have another album being released today as well. This one features Shostakovich Cello Concerto No. 1 with Gerard Schwarz and the Seattle symphony. This one is available to purchase or download now as a single track or entire album. I’m very pleased to see such a great initial response at the Amazon.com website!

There’s an online catalog from Naxos that has all of the track listings and related info for both albums, which you can find here.

Welcome to my blog. I am a 67 year old solo cellist who has been touring the world for the last 40 years playing almost everywhere of note in the classical music scene alongside many of the greatest musicians. Over all these years, I have accumulated many stories, opinions, and insights, and gifts of the spirit as well as objects. It has been and still is incredibly inspiring work and even though I consider myself “techno-challenged” I wanted to have an outlet to share everything.

and another. Playing at The Proms. Brilliant rendition of both Bach and Dullieux. On CD somewhere?

Listened to the Jim Svejda program tonight Lynn. As good a musical program as I’ve ever heard. Your playing is the ideal every musician should strive for: technical excellence of course but your heart and the heart of the composer presented as the substance behind every note. You (and your wonderful colleagues) pour out blessings for your fellow man no less than any spiritual officer. I was very lucky to be on the receiving end of what was poured out tonight.

I have many recordings of yours but will gobble up your latest to be sure.

Thank you for your heart and dedication to us all!

    Dave Connor
